Applications

When downloading the applications below, please note that there are binaries compiled with the 2.6 CAVE Libraries and the 2.5.6 CAVE Libraries. If you are using a tracker daemon, the 2.5.6 apps won't work with the basic 2.6 trackd, they only work with the backwards-compatible trackd_bc. Also, 2.x versions of the Vanilla Sound Server can be downloaded here.

What's NEW!

MPVR - MultiPhase/Virtual Reality - A virtual reality tool for visualizing multiphase flows.

CAVE and ImmersaDesk Applications

  • Quake III Arena - is a Quake3 renderer for the CAVE, the world's best virtual reality platform! It can also be used with various other VR devices or run on a regular desktop. It is based on Steve Taylor's wonderful Aftershock engine.
  • Saranav - is a Performer based CAVE application to load and view 3D polygonal datasets in the CAVE. It has numerous commandline options to control the various visualisation and navigation parameters as well as an extensible menu system to control the application.
  • Vomit Mountain - is virtual roller coaster ride.
  • GeoView - is 3D Visualization of Geographic Data Using the CAVE. The data is from Morgantown, West Virginia.
  • QUAKE - is an adaptation of the popular PC game QUAKE II. It demonstrates the use of Performer 2.2 in the CAVE environment.
  • GLADIATOR - is a high paced interactive virtual environment game created for the CAVE.
  • GRID - is a cyberspace gallery of sculptural mandalas!
  • CAVE DOOM - is an adaptation of the popular PC game DOOM. It demonstrates the use of OpenInventor in the CAVE environment.
  • Cathedral - is an architectural walk-through of a virtual cathedral.
  • Las_Meninas - is a painting about representation. Velazquez challenges the viewer by making the spectator the model to be viewed and vice versa.
  • Snail Song - is a Vanilla Soundserver sonification of 3D shadows of soap films in the positively curved (spherical) 3-space.
  • CAVE5D - is an application to support visualization of oceanographic and meteorological modeling studies. However, any vis5D file can be visualized with Cave5D.
  • Orgworld - is a virtual reality experience that brings static objects to life, in the process making them living creatures by giving them motion, behavior, and distinct personalities.
  • A Walk Through Chesapeake Bay - is a collaborative effort of NCSA and CEWES to create a virtual environment of the Chesapeake Bay as a tool for analyzing the output of the CEWES simulation.
  • Crumbs - is an IrisGL CAVE application which performs texture map-based volume rendering. It's purpose is to mark fiberous objects in biological datasets.
  • Wiggler - is a virtual reality visualization of accelerator magnets.
  • illiPhaser - is a real time interactive application of four dynamical systems: the Lorenz, the Roessler, the May-Leonard, and the 3D linear system, all with adjustable parameters.
  • Virtual Visible Female - is a volume-rendering of the visible female data set from the National Institutes of Health.
  • Alife - simulation, showing animats interacting with each other and their world.
  • Crayoland - is an interactive virtual environment created for the CAVE.
  • Battalion - A game where you play a giant monster, crushing buildings and battling government troops.
  • Jacks - Jack-in-the-box shooting gallery.
  • Mercantile Exchange - model to show possible design solution for the mercantile exchange.
  • PushPop - cyberspace gallery of art.
  • Aquarium - an aquarium full of fish and swimming airplanes.
