CAVE DOOM is an adaptation of the popular PC game DOOM. It demonstrates the use of OpenInventor in the CAVE environment.

Controls:

After the title screen, CAVE DOOM displays the controls:

Button 1 - hold down for scope, release to fire
Button 2 - hold down to fly. vertical component of wand orientation determines vertical direction and speed.
Button 3 - go back to screen describing controls.

There are two forms of navigation. In the default mode, the joystick is used for forward and backward translation. The wand is determines the direction of rotation. To keep from rotating, the wand must be pointed forward at the front wall.

In the second form of navigation, the joystick is used for forward and backward translation and for left and right rotation.

After the form of navigation is selected, the game begins.

Installing:

Once the tar file is unpacked, you will need to change the startup scripts (run_doom*) to reflect the base directory of the CAVE DOOM installation and the name of the sound server machine.

Also, if audio will be used, the .aud file in the AUD directory will have to be edited to reflect the base directory.

Running:

If using audio, Start vss on the sound server machine.
cd to the bin directory. Run one of the scripts.
