NCSA libTrCalibr 2.00 implements two different techniques to calibrate electromagnetic tracking systems: high order polynomial fit and interpolation on an irregularly spaced tracked grid. This is in contrast to EVL's approach where the measurements for the calibration table need to be done on the regular grid in the tracked space. Both techniques perform calibration of both position and rotation distortions. Please refer to the following publications for more details regarding these techniques. They can be found at http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/VEG/VPS/emtc/libtrcalib.html:

tracking devices, Virtual Reality: Research, Development,
and Applications, vol. 4, 1999, pp. 139-150. postscript

Correction Techniques for Electromagnetic Position Tracking
Systems, submitted to Virtual Environments 2000
      Eurographics Workshop.

The library also includes utilities to assist with making calibration measurements and to visualize them in a virtual reality environment. If you have any questions regarding the software, please contact Volodymyr Kindratenko at kindr@ncsa.uiuc.edu.
